In his farewell statement, it was published Twitter, Said Jon Bokenkamp, ”After eight years, I feel like it’s time for me to step out of my comfort zone, try something new, and explore a few of the other characters and stories that have been crawling around in my head.”
Specifically, Bokenkamp explained that he had a collection of manuscripts that were written but never produced because of his commitments to “The Black List”. Bokenkamp described his feelings about leaving the show as mixed. He said he was “excited about this next chapter,” but was sad to say goodbye to “The Blacklist” family with writers, cast and crew members.
Bokenkamp also mentioned his appreciation of the opportunity to tell a different story each week on “The Blacklist” to the show’s dedicated fan base. He thanked them for the lively communities that had emerged around the project, which nurtured extensive fantasy theories, art and even podcasts dedicated to the show. Bokenkamp ended his farewell with a positive note, explaining: “I truly believe that the series remains full of life, creatively strong, and that the bright days await.”
