When you think of Leonardo DiCaprio, “Titanic” is probably one of the first movies that comes to mind. James Cameron’s epic romance was “King of the World” at the time of release and held on to that title for several years before Cameron re-emerged with “Avatar”. Share romantic tragedy and share disaster movies, the short-lived romance between Jack Dawson (DiCaprio) and Rose DeWitt Bukater (Kate Winslet) still manages to capture everyone’s heart to this day.
The connection between DiCaprio and Winslet’s characters is evident from the moment they first meet on screen. At the end of the first 90 minutes of the movie, you want them to be together forever. In the second part, the sinking ship endangers their love and their lives. Seeing Jack and Rose maneuver through the sinking ship while avoiding the grip of Rose’s fiancé, Cal (Billy Zane), is exciting from start to finish. The last scene between them is hotly debated to this day.
With more memorable scenes and quotes, as well as the hit Celine Dion song “My Heart Will Go On”, you can not underestimate the impact “Titanic” has had on its stars, director and pop culture in general.
