Kochi, July 1 (IANS) Actress Suchitra Pillai, currently seen in the digitally released Malayalam film “Cold Case”, says OTT content has provided new opportunities for many actors like her.
“I think OTT has been fantastic. Last year during the pandemic, it gave me a new life. I had four releases on OTT platforms. After locking, I shot after seven to eight projects that will soon be out. It’s a new life for any actor. It is such a huge reach and your work can be seen all over the world. Someone sitting in New Zealand or Hawaii will be able to see Suchitra Pillai! She tells IANS.
Does she feel in the future that OTT has the power to become greater than the theater experience?
“I believe it and I certainly hope so. How can you argue with a phone in hand as opposed to going and buying a movie ticket? That’s my logic, ”she says, adding:“ I see my building’s guards sitting and watching something on OTT as opposed to spending their money and finding time to watch a movie. The whole process has passed now. I think the present is OTT, ”she replies.
“Cold Case” is a mysterious thriller film that the actress as a clairvoyant named Zara. “I have always been interested in the occult and I believe in spirit. So when I got the role of Zara using the screaming process that I had not heard of before, I was interested. Of course, it was so interesting to work with Prithviraj and Aditi Balan, ”she says of her experience working in the film, which streams on Amazon Prime Video.
