Mumbai Indians start with first training session in UAE

Abu Dhabi, August 21 (IANS) As the second stage of the Indian Premier League 2021 was to resume in the UAE, the defending champions Mumbai Indians began their first training session at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhai.

The five-time champions took to social media to post videos and photos of the players and support staff training under light. Indian members of the squad arrived in Abu Dhabi on August 13 and ended their week of quarantine.

Left-handed batman Ishan Kishan was seen practicing a scoop shot. There was a picture of Cricket Operations director Zaheer Khan seen with field coach James Pamment.

“First day in the office in 55 seconds! Turn on your notifications and keep up, ”the franchise wrote, giving a summary of their training in a video on social media.

Earlier, the squad was also seen in a video playing a game of pool volleyball after the end of their quarantine period, with the caption as “Diving directly out of quarantine for a game of Pool Volleyball.”

Apart from Kishan, the clip featured Piyush Chawla, Aditya Tare and Dhawal Kulkarni.

In the first match of the second stage of the UAE-based IPL 2021, Mumbai Indians will face the Chennai Super Kings on September 19 in Dubai. Mumbai is ranked fourth on the table with eight points from seven games.
