Ganguly post Heartwarming message about returning to the Lord’s first day

London, August 13 (IANS) The first day of the second test at Lord’s saw BCCI President Sourav Ganguly mark his presence. Ganguly was discovered along with BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, Vice President Rajeev Shukla, British Finance Minister Rishi Sunak and later along with former English captain Geoffrey Boycott enjoying the Indian team against England.

Ganguly, who made a hundred at Test debut at Lord’s in 1996, took to Instagram to send a heartwarming message. He posted a collage with four photos on his account showing the former Indian captain’s journey in four different roles – batter master, captain, winning captain and BCCI boss at Lord’s.

“Came here as a player first in 1996 … and then as captain … enjoyed the game with Lord today as an administrator … India was and is in a good position all the time … this game of cricket is majestic,” read Ganguly’s caption on his Instagram post.

The story of Lord’s Cricket Ground, called ‘homeofcricket’, responded to Ganguly’s post, which read: “Great to have you back with Lord, Sourav.”

After a memorable test debut in 1996, Ganguly led India to the Natwest Trophy victory in 2002, beating England in the final by two wickets.

Aside from the roles in the collage, Ganguly was a member of the commentary during the 2014 India Tour in England. In fact, Ganguly called on the last day of the Lord’s test. Ishant Sharma claimed 7/74 to bowl England out to 223 as India completed a memorable 95-run victory.

Coming to the ongoing match at Lord’s, India was 276/3 on stumps on day one with KL Rahul undefeated at 127.
