British actor of Indian descent Dev Patel has spilled the prayers about his character in the movie “The Green Knight”, which is released on August 27th.
“The Green Knight”, directed by David Lowery, is based on the 14th-century epic poem about a young man in King Arthur’s court who embarks on an unforgettable journey of self-discovery.
The Oscar-nominated actor plays the lead role as Sir Gawain, who must fight ghouls, ogres, thieves and villains on his way to evolution.
Dev said: “Gawain is a kind of spoiled tease, and I told David before I signed that if we are going on this extraordinary journey with him, in the midst of sparse dialogue and many instances of questionable behavior, there must be something that gets you to root him out through this adversity. ”
The “Lion” star feels the script has a clever and timely recording of masculinity, a fact that drew him more to the project.
“Gawain is justified and soaked in privileges, but gets humbled during the film by the smart women around him,” he added.
The core idea of the script got him really excited.
“This young man is venturing out across this rugged terrain and it is a test of nature in so many ways. He encounters life and all its savagery, scavengers, a girl in need, a beautiful woman who tempts him, and you realize how naive he is as a young man, despite or perhaps because of his privileged origins. ”
The film also features Alicia Vikander and Joel Edgerton among others.
PVR Pictures is set to release “The Green Knight” in Indian theaters on August 27th.
